Come Back Soon for May 2021 Details

Welcome to our 2020 Presenting Partner, The Detroit Film Theatre.
This year, the Lenore Marwil Detroit Jewish Film Festival is delighted to partner with the Detroit Film Theatre. Director and Curator of the DFT, Elliot Wilhelm will be joining the Detroit Jewish Film Festival as film expert in residence and leading many of our film discussions. As one of the deans of the southeast Michigan film scene, Elliot also works with Cinetopia and countless film creation and presentation organizations. He is a champion of emerging and local filmmakers while also working hard to preserve and promote “classic” films. He has been a radio and TV broadcaster and is a long-time friend of the Detroit Jewish Film Festival.

Our Mission

The JCC of Metro Detroit’s Lenore Marwil Detroit Jewish Film Festival offers a diverse cinema experience in its annual festival and throughout the year. It also provides a forum for discussion about films from around the world that illuminate Jewish issues and principles. Our goal is to enhance a sense of community and inclusion for a broad range of audience members.

How will the virtual festival work?

  • We are designing the virtual festival to be a mix of things we all do together and things we do on our own schedule.
  • Anyone can participate in all aspects of the festival, without invitation.
  • Films will be available for rent on-demand throughout the entire festival (Oct. 4-30) and you can watch them any time. No more worrying about missing a film because it’s being shown when you’re busy!
  • Festival Pass holders will have access to our Netflix-like Premium Streaming beginning on October 4. where they can scroll through movies and watch as they please. (Get your Festival Pass here.)
  • Those without Festival Pass can purchase virtual tickets to each film individually beginning on October 4. Virtual tickets are single-use codes for watching a film that expire in 24 hours after purchase.
  • We’ll all gather in real time for live virtual film discussions. Anyone can watch and participate in these either on the JCC of Metro Detroit’s YouTube channel or through the Detroit Jewish Film Festival’s smart TV app.
