The Detroit Jewish Book Fair presents new books (usually published in the same calendar year as the fair) by Jewish authors or that have Jewish content. Not sure if your book qualifies? Drop us a line and we’ll talk.
Not sure if you or the author you represent counts as Jewish? We consider anyone who identifies as a member of the tribe to be precisely that.

We have three main channels for presenting books: Single Author Talks (with book sale), General Book Sales, and Michigan Author Panel. All of the below channels begin with our Reading Committee reviewing a book. In order to ensure that your book is properly considered for the 2021 Book Fair, please submit it by April 1, 2021. Earlier submissions are preferred.

Single Author Talks (with book sale)
Invitations to authors for these talks are made over the summer, mostly in the month of August. If you submit a book for consideration and have not heard from us by the end of August, please be in touch. We receive many submissions and are not always able to provide notification to those who are not selected for a Single Author Talk. Self-published books are generally not considered. All books represented at the Single Author Talks will be available at our online book store.
General Book Sales
General books for sale at the Book Fair are curated by the Book Fair committee. Due to the significant number of submissions we receive, we do not send notifications of intent to sell a book in the general book sale. However, if you wish to inquire as to the status of your submission, you may do so beginning in mid-September. If your book is selected for general sale, the Book Fair will add it to its online Bookshop.org store.
Michigan Author Panel
Our local Author Panel will consist of several Michigan authors. Books by authors selected for the panel will be made available for sale. If possible, we will include the book in our online store at Bookshop.org. Otherwise, we will include a link to how to purchase on our website. Some authors from the panel may be invited to host an informal, coffee hour event.
